Bourne will be Back for The Fourth Action
>> Oct 17, 2008
It’s now official that my favorite spy icon in this century, Jason Bourne, will be back again on the big screen with his fourth film. Variety announces today that Universal has hired a writer and is giving full support to the production in hopes of having it ready by 2010. What interesting here that previously Universal was intended to end the series with “The Bourne Ultimatum” (as the title was taken from the last series of the book by Robert Ludlum), but when the film made a hefty $227 million in its box office triumph, the studio decided to go ahead and make another. Last film writer George Nolfi also has been chosen to inscribe this next film.
The fourth book in the amnesia spy series actually was written instead by Eric Van Lustbader, not Robert Ludlum, and thus the studio has decided to go down their own path choosing a story this time. Producer Frank Marshall said they'll probably take Bourne "down south" to South America in the fourth film, but story details aren't fully finalized. Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass, who directed both Supremacy and Ultimatum, will return again for the fourth film. “The Bourne Ultimatum” is by far my favorite of the three Bourne films, even though I really enjoyed and loved the first two but I thought that each one of Bourne got better as the series went along. This makes sense as Bourne also found his memories more and getting stronger and faster from film to film. I hope that the pairing of Damon and Greengrass again in this fourth installment will make the film as well as the previous series or even better.
