A footage has been released for Teddy Chan's upcoming period actioner entitled "Bodyguards and Assassins," which featuring an all-star cast headed up by Donnie Yen (Ip Man). The footage, which originally premiered at Cannes, reveals the impressive scale of the production and some finished scenes including martial arts action. The story of "Bodyguards and Assassins" concerns efforts by a group of martial artists to protect Dr. Sun Yat-sen, a Chinese revolutionary, from an assassination attempt while visiting Hong Kong at the beginning of the 20th century.
Yen's well-known co-stars include Tony Leung Ka-fai, Simon Yam, Nicholas Tse, Leon Lai, Eric Tsang, and Fan Bingbing. The film also features some up-and-coming screen action talents including MMA star Cung Le, actor Xing Yu (coolie from "Kung Fu Hustle"), wushu artist Wang Wenjie (Seven Swords), and kung fu master Philip Ng (Invisible Target). The film is produced by "The Warlords" director Peter Chan and features the action direction of Stephen Tung Wei (Painted Skin).
