"Pirates 4" and "The Dark Knight" Sequel Will Be Shoot Next Year (UPDATE)

>> Jul 25, 2009

ComingSoon recently had a chance to meet Disney's head of production Oren Aviv and interviewed him about the previously-announced fourth installment in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise.

"We're going to shoot 'Pirates 4' in April and May of next year. We are going to release it hopefully in 2011," he said, adding that Disney will be making one installment at a time, but the first film will "hopefully be the first of another trilogy." He continued: "It's important to get the story right and it's important to me to scale it down, because we can't get bigger. The movies have subsequently gotten bigger and bigger and very complicated and they were satisfying on so many levels obviously, but I want to kind of reboot the whole thing and bring it down to its core, its essence, just characters."

Without confirming anything, Aviv said that there is still lots of Captain Jack Sparrow's back story that we haven't seen.

Another news came from "The Dark Knight", during "The Book of Eli" panel at Comic-Con, actor Gary Oldman was asked for a "Batman 3" update. "Batman will start shooting next year," he said. "So it's two years away. But you didn't hear that from me." This somehow confirmed what that several producers and set construction workers have previously revealed that the film is already in pre-production and will begin shooting by the Summer of 2010.
(UPDATE: To iF Magazine a few hours later, Oldman was asked again about what he said and he responded "Someone asked me [about the third BATMAN film] and I said, ‘I don’t know, next year? Two years away? It could be three years away.'")
