Some Photos from the Rebuilded Set of "The Hobbit" (UPDATE)

>> Jul 20, 2009

Despite the on-going lawsuit that could put an end to the planned two adaptation films of "The Hobbit", it seems that Warner Bros is still moving forward with the production.

TheOneRing site currently reporting that Warner Bros is rebuilding Hobbiton, the home of Bilbo Baggins, for "The Hobbit" and it's sequel. The site provided a few pictures of the set and a brief description of the construction:
"The re-building of Hobbiton has begun, with the planting of hedgerows and fruit trees. An extension to the path that passes in front of Bag End has been marked out also. There will be several new Hobbit holes dotted along its length." Just check some other of those shots below.

Previously, director Guilermo del Toro also had uttered that filming will begin in 2010 and that "The Hobbit" (to eventually be split into two films) will shoot for 370 days. Considering a typical film shoot is usually only a few months, that's a shocking number, but certainly necessary for this adaptation. Del Toro also explained that there will be many many more cool creature in this film, as they will be pushing the goblin kindgom. "We will be pushing smaug, the spiders of mirkwood. we will be pushing them to the edge of technology where we will fuse animatronics and cgi into a seamless new art form in creating creatures, i think." The first movie is set to hit theaters in December 2011 and the sequel in December 2012. I really hope that they could make it happen though.

UPDATE: During recently Comic Con, Peter Jackson had revealed that "The Hobbit" is much farther away than fans have been led to believe. The director said that they're three or four weeks away from handing in the first draft of the script, and that the film isn't even really greenlit yet -- they still need to finish writing, get approval on the script, and have the budget approved before we will see any actual progress in the way of casting. While there is no doubt that the film will get made, it's still in that squishy working stage, and we shouldn't be scanning the trades for a Bilbo Baggins casting announcement for a few more months.
