>> Mar 1, 2009

The Birds (1963) is an inspiring suspense film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It based on the short story of the same name by Daphne du Maurier. The film's innovative special effects, soundtrack, and apocalyptic theme influenced later "revenge of nature" disaster films.

Previously there has been a rumor that a remake of "The Birds" is in production, with actress Naomi Watts (The International), who is in discussions to take the role of Melanie Daniels. The plot will be based on the original short story by du Maurier, while the screenplay is being written by Juliet Snowden and Stiles White. The producers are Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller with Martin Campbell is set to direct it.

The newest info about this remake is now it's probably could end up being in 3-D just like what Brenna Lee Roth revealed to MarketSaw recently that "I am in talks with the producer of 'The Birds' and he said he wanted to do it 3D," she explained. "But I don't really know any more about it."

Roth also confirmed that both George Clooney (Burn After Reading) and Naomi Watts are attached to star with Brad Fuller and Michael Bay still producing.

"The Birds" revolves around a wealthy San Francisco playgirl who pursues a potential boyfriend to a small Northern California town that slowly takes a turn for the bizarre when birds of all kinds suddenly begin to attack people there in increasing numbers and with increasing viciousness.
