Burton to Hunt Vampires with Abe Lincoln
>> Mar 4, 2010
Done with “Alice in Wonderland” 3D and there’s still no official certainty about his big screen adaptation to 60's supernatural TV show “Dark Shadow” which will re-teaming him (again) with Johnny Depp, rumor has it that Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov ("Wanted," "Night Watch") are teaming for a feature film adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's novel "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter". According to Deadline Hollywood, Burton and Bekmambetov have used their own money to acquire film rights to the novel and no studio is involved as of yet. Grahame-Smith also penned the New York Times bestselling "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" novel which Natalie Portman is developing for Lionsgate.
While "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" was a marriage of the Jane Austen tale with an attack of bloodthirsty zombies, "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," is a loose sketch of Lincoln's life with one twist - the 16th US president is the world's most skilled vampire hunter. The story posits that Lincoln’s mother was killed by a vampire, igniting a passion to kill the creatures. As a result the U.S. President is a highly trained hunter set out on a path of revenge that will take him all the way to the White house.
