>> Jun 30, 2010
Not only Zack Snyder who attempt to bring his vision into an animated feature, but the director of “Pirates of Caribbean” trilogy and “The Ring”, Gore Verbinski, also ready to release his first foray into this family oriented genre. Paramount currently has debuted two, yes two, first trailers for Verbinski directed “Rango” which revolves around a chameleon (voiced by no other than Johnny Depp) with an identity crisis. Along with Depp, the new computer-generated animation movie also starring some of the most unique and inspired voice talent this side of a Pixar movie; Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Stephen Root, Bill Nighy, Ray Winstone, Ned Beatty, Harry Dean Stanton, Timothy Olyphant, and Afred Molina. Check both of the hilarious trailers after the jump now.
Scheduled to hit theaters on March 18th, 2011, the script of “Rango” was written by John Logan (Gladiator, The Last Samurai, The Aviator, Sweeney Todd) based on a story by Verbinski and James Ward Byrkit. This is ILM's first ever full-length animated feature and the effect studio animation is using "cutting edge techniques" that "allow [them] to capture and translate every aspect of Johnny's performance, using it to drive the computer-generated character in a way that has yet to be seen."
While details of the plot are hard to come by, Nighy previously revealed that he will be playing the villain, who does battle with Rango. "I play the bad guy," he said. "I play a very, very bad guy. I'm a rattlesnake and I am a gun-slinging assassin. I literally have a Gatling gun — I have a machine gun in my tail — so I can just spray the whole town. I can kill everybody whenever I wish. I'm brought in by the corrupt sheriff to sort things out."

3 Remarks:
Looks pretty interesting and funny JJ. I'm lookin forward to this.
Cute, funny-looking chameleon as a lead character? That's bloody original idea, if you ask me. I'm sick of talking lions, elephants, cats and mice. Gore Verbinski knows how to make entertaining and visually striking films, so I'm sure "Ringo" will be nothing short of fantastic.
I think I'm seeing and hearing Johnny Depp everywhere, no wait, it's not me, it's Hollywood :)
But I do love Rango's face in the poster :)
