First Trailer for Anticipated Korean Thriller "The Murderer"
>> Sep 15, 2010
Na Hong-jin is South Korean filmmaker who gained instant fame and acclaim through his directorial debut "The Chaser", which topped the Korean box office for three consecutive weeks and became the second most-watched film of 2008. Now, his sophomore effort entitled "The Murderer" has gained much more buzz as the first Korean movie to receive direct investment from the Hollywood studio. The film's distributor Showbox Mediaplex announced in a press release that the thriller flick has received additional funding from 20th Century Fox. Fox -- which is owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation -- will reportedly take part in producing sequels and remakes of the film. In case of a Hollywood remake, Na will be contractually guaranteed to direct the film with original Korean producer Popcorn Films on board as well. “From the moment we saw Chaser, we pursued Na Hong-jin and wanted to be a part of his next film,” said Sanford Panitch, president of Fox International Productions. “That we could reprise the marvelous Chaser cast for this project was equally exciting. Na Hong-jin has a big future.” Check for more information about the film below and the trailer after the break.
