After a career of robbing and killing, she decides she wants to start a new life. As a gesture of atonement, she returns the remains of a mystical Buddhist monk to his tomb. It is rumored that the remains contain the secret to obtaining absolute power and whoever possesses them can control the martial arts world. In order to escape from The Dark Stone and rid her life of violence and bloodshed, Drizzle decides to undergo a drastic procedure to alter her appearance, to change her name to Zeng Jing (Michelle Yeoh), and to move to the Capital. However, their peaceful life is soon disrupted when Zeng's identity as Drizzle is unveiled in a dramatic fight and confrontation with her old gang, The Dark Stone. Amidst all the chaos and fighting, Jiang, her husband, reveals his true identity to her - he is the son of a government official that she murdered when she was still a member of The Dark Stone. Stylist, Well-Made Trailer for "The Butcher, The Chef and the Swordsman"

Over at TwitchFilm.net has been premiered a first trailer for new kung fu comedy by Chinese filmmaker Wu Ershan, "The Butcher, The Chef and The Swordsman". This film is screening up at the Toronto Film Festival next month and in a 'surprising' way the director of "Bourne Identity", Doug Liman, is presenting the film. And in another 'surprising' way, this trailer is a bit unexpected either. Well, prior I've underestimated the film due to its title and the 'kung fu comedy' route, but, this trailer shows that the film has the kind of visual stylized martial arts action and cinematography, not to mention the goody wildly make-up effects, that could give it a shot to break out beyond China. Check it out now by clickin' on read more button below.

Plot synopsis: "The Butcher, the Chef, and the Swordsman" follows the journey of a mystical blade as it passes through the hands of three ambitious men. As the interwoven story unfolds, they find that the blade possesses the power to dramatically change the fate of each of its owners.
The Butcher is a simple man in love with a beautiful courtesan, but is rebuffed each time he approaches her. The Chef is a handsome loner obsessed with seeking vengeance for the slaughter of his family. The Swordsman, the son of a legendary warrior, is consumed by the desire to eclipse his father in both power and fame. Their stories comes full circle as each man takes possession of the mystical blade and discovers its double edge--- the great power it bestows is matched by even greater danger.

Liman who's sparked to the Chinese film and will help promote it as it plays in Toronto’s Midnight Madness program said “Wuershan’s debut movie is so wildly imaginative, it changed my perception of China as a whole”. “It is a thrill to present this first time Chinese director to the international community,” he continued. The film’s a co-production between Fox International Productions and First Cut Features.
